LendForGood, Social Impact Book Club, Delvish, CEP Cindy Gallop + Kane is Alive
Recently, I've found seeds of hope through two very different events: the Atlassian Foundation's Social Impact Book Club and a presentation on Creativity in the AI Age.
In Atlassian Foundation's most recent Social Impact Book Club Tiah Goldstein hosted a great discussion on Mission Economy - A Moonshot Guide to Changing Capitalism by Mariana Mazzucato.
The book argues that capitalism can be remade by leveraging the power of governments to shape markets. In the post-talk breakout rooms there was a healthy debate with a great group of people passionate about Social Impact.
The Next Social Impact Book Club is hosted by Abbey Pantano and will cover Weh Yeoh's Redundant Charities Escaping the cycle of dependence. Come join us March 6th 2025 by registering here. Don't worry, this format doesn't require you read the book before the session!
Last week I also attended Kris Howard's (Ex Amazon) presentation 'Creativity in the AI Age'. In the post talk breakout rooms we discussed how AI is affecting language maybe even creating its own dialect, Delvish. The biggest question, If we're using AI for efficiency, is it at the expense of creativity. You can see the slides and watch the full talk here.
I'm also curating a Social Impact Gift Guide. Interested in maximising the impact of your gifts or everyday spend, for work travel, home and more? Reply to this email, and I'll send you the list once it is published.

🎙️Podcast: Chasing Financial Equality - Sex, Gender, & Raising Money For Impact, with Cindy Gallop.
We've had a flurry of new podcasts recently, but this week I want to highlight one of my favourite from the archives. In this episode Cindy shares her unique trajectory from growing up in Brunei to becoming a titan in the advertising world and an advocate for healthy sex. Discover how Cindy's platform disrupts the traditional porn industry by promoting real-world sex education and learn about the the challenges she faces in securing venture funding. Hear firsthand how Cindy's innovative approach and relentless drive is changing lives, promoting healthy sexuality, and paving the way for the business models of the future. This is an inspiring conversation that highlights the importance of collective action and breaking societal taboos. A must listen for anyone who loathes the status quo. Language warning - best not listen with young kids around. 🎧 Listen here
✈️Kane is alive!
Two weeks ago, Kane sent the team an "in case of my death" email - a shocking subject line that caught my breath. The email's intent was practical: to ensure the critical corrections and strategies were in place while he was away for a medical procedure. You can read more about why here. TL;DR went well and he'll be back on deck full-time any day now!
Before the procedure Kane also shared posts about, his word of the year: ‘enshittification’, what good leadership looks like and a touching story about his parents.
